PROFILE
Working in the turfgrass maintenance industry requires a very special set of
skills from agronomics to leadership to business savvy. Through my career I have gained these necessary skills, and my experience across a varied spectrum of clubs and companies continue to offer me the ability to adapt to specific situations that can benefit my employer best.
From a young age, I have had a passion for golf and its maintenance. I started on the grounds crew in high school and have worked in this industry ever since. Graduating from UCONN, my career began differently than most superintendents. I worked at the athletic fields at UCONN where I learned valuable insights into non-golf playing surfaces that allow me to deliver excellent ancillary areas around the clubhouse, tennis facilities and more.
But I have always wanted to be a superintendent, so I accepted an internship at Vineyard Golf Club to begin this path. I have remained at Vineyard throughout my career for over 7 years, working my way all the way up to Senior Assistant Superintendent as my current role. Here I have honed my agronomic skill-set and gained excellent financial and budgetary skills. I have also been integral in many construction projects to round out my abilities as a superintendent.
A unique aspect of working at Vineyard Golf Club is that it is the most environmentally sensitive golf course in the world. We are 100% organic - no pesticides are allowed. As the world continues to limit what the industry can utilize in this area, my experience at Vineyard can translate better than nearly any of my peers if and when my next club is required to meet these difficult demands.
I still enjoy every day on the course and look forward to what comes next in my career at a club committed to excellence.
